Show Activity:
The year has started off with us back in the saddle again and our horses running at a full gallop. With three major shows in Jan. we kept the roads hot and a smile on our faces as we met so many new people. It was exhausting and exhilarating at the same time.
The Dallas Safari Club show was an incredible way to start out the year. We renewed friendships with exhibitors from all over the world and re-connected with many of our collectors. There always seems to be a buzz in the booth because of you, my faithful collectors, who stops by to share your latest news. You are so much more to me.
We followed Dallas with the Indian Market in Denver and then the Safari Club International convention in Reno, NV. The excitement that permeates these shows seems to re-charge my creative batteries with energy. And rather than being tedious, the miles on the road become a time to soak up the diversity and open spaces of our great nation.
News On The Safari:
The one great disappointment for me has been the postponement of my safari to Tanzania. Due to concerns about the current international situation we have postponed it until the same time in February next year. That means we have space for a few more people to join us on this trip of a lifetime. For those of you that were unable to fit the safari into your 2003 schedule, you now have a chance to make it in 2004. As safari commitments continue to come in, I will keep a waiting list of names. Contact me at [email protected] if you are interested in additional information about this incredible safari to my favorite parts of Africa.
New Works:
Work continues on the zebra mare and colt many of you saw on my drawing table at the January shows. It should be finished and available in print by the middle of March, just in time for the Texas Indian and Southwest Art Market in Arlington, TX. Look for it on this site in a few weeks.
At present it appears that my next piece will be a Greater Kudu (If I can’t be in Africa, then at least I can dream I’m there with my animals). And further down the line, the quest for the perfect whitetail deer piece is progressing and I expect to have one by the end of the year.
As mentioned in my year-end newsletter, I will continue to bring small original works on scratchboard to the shows. These have proven to be an interesting addition for my collectors and fun for me to do.
Upcoming Shows:
I will be at the Convention Center in Arlington, Texas on March 21, 22 and 23 for the Indian and Southwest Art Market, and back to Richardson, Texas in April for the Cottonwood Festival.
The San Antonio “Home and Garden Show” to be held on Feb. 28, March 1 and 2, is an unscheduled show. The JEDCO group, art brokers from New Braunfels, TX, will be featuring my work, along with the work of Dalhart Windberg and Michael Windberg in their booth. The three of us will be available to sign prints throughout the show and I feel fortunate to be included with such acclaimed artists.
