Something To Strut About – Turkey

Caught in a half-strut, everything about this Eastern Wild Turkey says this is going to be “his day”! The result of many years collecting details and making field sketches during their Spring courtship rites, I finally had the moment I sought. Just a little bit quirky, as befits their personality, it gave me the impetus to tackle this challenge. These remarkable birds are simply brilliant, both in elusive behavior and in coloration. The complexity and iridescence of their feathers has turned this into my most punishing undertaking. Testing every skill I have developed with my Pen & Ink, I don’t believe any other medium could capture the intricate detail that sets this bird apart.
